| Blagrove Farmhouse |
| Answering a question with a question, I'm afraid!
I'm researching my wife's family (Hyde) and several in the 16th & 17th Century lived at Blagrove, Abingdon, Berks. Is this the same place, what is there now, and is there a church dating from before that time? Or maybe they were referring to Blagrove Farm itself?
Interested to hear what you can tell me. |

| Bradfield Water Mill |
| This query concerns the mill opposite St Andrew's church in Church Road. The Mill (and, I believe, Mill House attached) are now used and owned (?) by Bradfield College. The Archive material held by the College is currently unavailable and possibly irrelevant
If anyone has an interest and any information on previous occupants/millers ,especially when the mill was a working feature of village life particularly from 1800 to 1850, I shall be most happy and interested to hear from you. |

| Bird in Hand Pub Wantage |
| Does anyone know what happened to the Bird in Hand Public House in Grove Street Wantage? Although we no longer live there, we know Wantage quite well and don't think the pub has been there since at least the 1950s. We have been unable to find a street map of Victorian Wantage either. |

| Ranikhet Camp |
| Ranikhet Primary School - built on the site of the old army camp, has now twinned with the Ranikhet School and Camp in India. We are looking to hold a reunion for soldiers who new either Ranikhet England or Ranikhet India. Please feel free to get in touch with us at School. I am the headteacher and would be happy to speak with you.
RESPONSE
I worked at Ranikhet Camp, Tilehurst from 1955 to 1961. I was a civilian working on the Pay Accounts of the R.Sigs. Most of the soldiers stationed there were doing their National Service. The land which housed the camp was handed back to the owners in the 1960s. It was land requishioned during WW2.Access was up Norcot Road to Honey End Lane, the white houses on the left going up the hill were officers married quarters. The Dee Road mentioned was used, when the RAPC were there, as the Practice Firing Range. I meet my husband of 48 years while he was stationed at Ranikhet.

| The West Reading Adult School |
| This year marks the centenary of the Gloucester Road Centre, now the site of the Gloucester Road Playgroup, but originally a Quaker Adult School. We are very interested in hearing from anyone with links to the West Reading Adult School, including people who may have attended social evenings or Saturday dances there. The building also seems to have had other uses, such as a place of worship for a West Indian Church and as an extension to Battle School. Any first-hand accounts would be of interest and photographs are particularly welcome.

| Guards Club, Maidenhead |
| I am interested to obtain information about the Guards Club which used to be in Maidenhead.
Could you possibly direct me to references about the Club and advise if it is possible get hold of any images?
I am interested in particular in the 1870's when one of my ancestors was a boatman at the Club. At the same time my ancestor won a number of sculling races on the Thames - I suppose around Maidenhead but he may have rowed in other places. Do you know which local newspaper is best to search as I have tried to trace information through rowing records without success.
Thank you very much for your help.

| Budge's Farm, Wokingham |
| My great-great-uncle was Benjamin Budge who lived at Dowells Green Farm
[1861 census] and Budge's Farm [1871 census] and who, I presume, had something to do with Budge's Gardens and Budge's Cottages. Any information about these would be wonderful. I visited the area yesterday and was interested to see the names existed even if they were now, mostly, modern housing. And what is the fate of Dowells Green Farm ? Barracaded as it is in the centre of the new estate ! |
